The Sunkoshi River (The river of gold) 8 to 9 days trip from KTM /KTM / Grade : 5
Sunkoshi means “The river of Gold “perhaps named after the Gold that is sometimes panned from the river gravel. Sunkoshi is one of the ten best rafting trips in the world. The river originates near Mt. Shisha Pangma in Tibet, and runs eastwards in Nepal. It emerges into the northern plains of India where it joins the Ganges. From the put-in point Dolalghat to the take-out point Chatara the warm water of the Sunkoshi surge for 270 KM through some of Nepal’s most remote countryside , big rapids ,no roads or towns , beautiful scenery and great camping make this a classic multi-day river trip . An excellent trip for intermediate and advanced kayakers. Nine days of constant white water time spent exploring villages, jungle and some of the small Hindu temples along the way make this a classic river expedition.
